MY STORY

Hi, I am Yentl Palmer, and this is my story.

In 2008, my personal search for good quality hair extensions at a reasonable price in South Africa became a journey that took me across the world and back again.

I quickly realised that many women were facing the same problem. Unless you were willing to pay thousands of rands for well-known brands of hair extensions in South Africa, the alternatives were often disappointing in quality and could even damage your natural hair.

I began researching international hair suppliers online, but that came with its own challenges. After experiencing poor hair quality, unreliable suppliers and online scams, I realised that the only way to find truly reliable products was to travel and meet suppliers in person.

I travelled to India, China, Germany and the USA, meeting suppliers, manufacturers and resellers. I tested many products, uncovered misleading claims, learnt the truth about human hair quality and eventually built the right supplier relationships.

In 2011, I began supplying hair salons with hair extensions. In 2013, I founded Hair Extension Experts to offer the public high-quality hair extensions, expert installation and honest advice at a fair price.

WHAT I OFFER AND WHY

I entered the world of hair extensions as a customer. In 2008, I had cut my hair into the fashionable Rihanna-style bob, but I did not feel like myself without my long hair.

I tried three popular hair extension systems available in South Africa, all within one year. Each method came with its own problems, and those experiences helped me understand exactly what clients need from a safer, more natural-looking hair extension solution.

THE PROBLEMS I EXPERIENCED

• Low-quality hair extensions that knotted, looked dull and felt stiff.
• Damage to my own hair from harsh or poorly suited bonding methods.
• Bald spots and breakage caused by incorrect installation or removal.
• Expensive maintenance with some extension systems.
• Hair that could not be reused, meaning new hair had to be purchased every 2 to 3 months.
• Poorly planned installations that caused bad blending.
• Incorrect installation that caused excessive shedding or strands falling out.

MY SOLUTION

After years of trial and error, I found extension methods that looked natural, felt comfortable and were far gentler on the natural hair when installed and maintained correctly.

I started installing hair extensions for friends, then friends of friends, and the business grew from there. I have since trained in several international hair extension systems and have spent years refining the methods, products and techniques we use at Hair Extension Experts.

HAIR EXTENSION EXPERTS WAS FORMED

Today, I use my experience and ongoing knowledge of hair extensions to guide clients, train stylists and help women find the best solution for their hair.

Hair Extension Experts has grown into a specialist salon team offering hair extensions, toppers, hair treatments and expert advice to clients in Johannesburg and across Gauteng.
